Plants on Edge

A geological event upturned this sedimentary rock, and a very hardy little plant grows between the narrow layers where the nutrients have collected.  This little plant deserves it’s own painting portrait.  I used a flat brush, held horizontally, to paint the many close layers in the rock.

This painting was juried into the 2009 National Watercolor Society’s All Members Show.
